DHARAMSHALA, 24th December 2015 : On the eve of 2015, a group of eight members from the institute embarked on maiden cultural tour to South Korea. Led by the Director Mr.Wangdu Tsering, the group held the first performance at consecration ceremony of Buddhist centre at Yeosu city, on 19 December 2015.
The main performance of the tour was held at Yeosu International Hall, in the presence of Chul Hyeon Ju, Chief Minister of the province, Ven.Jenok Sunim, head of Korean Buddhist Association. Thousand of people attended this mamoth cultural perforamnces from the roof of the world.
Mr.Wangdu Tsering Pesur, the Director of Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts brief the congregation on Tibet issue, culture and role played by the institute in preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibetan people.
Following the performance, the dignitaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation at the rich display of Tibetan culture and reaffirmed the importance of preserving one’s unique culture and tradition.
TIPA also presented a memento made from traditional Tibetan methods to Mr. Chul Hyeon Ju, the minister of the province.
TIPA artistes returned to Dharamshala on 24 December.
This was the first visit by a Tibetan cultural dance troupe to South Korea, thus marking the first ever cultural interaction between the two ancient countries.
