The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts celebrated its 62nd anniversary on August 11, 2021. On this day, the Yarkyi Festival’s most important yearly event took place, with two house groups performing a duet, a group song, and two dances. The complete musical instrumental notes this year were mostly centered on Tibetan cultural customs. Ngonpa house defeated Gyalu house to win the Yarkyi 2021 trophy this year. Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration was the principal guest, and Shri Jambay Wangdi, Chairman, Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik (Choe-Rig), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, was the special guest. Sonam Norbu Dagpo, Chief Justice Commissioner, and Justice Commissioners Karma Dadul and Tenzin Lungtok were among the other notable attendees. Sikyong Penpa Tsering spoke about the rich cultural bond that exists between Tibet and its Himalayan neighbors, particularly in the form of Tibetan Buddhism and medicine, in his address. He emphasized the growing number of Himalayan monks and nuns enrolling in Tibetan monasteries, claiming that this was due to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision and blessings.

He praised the artists and TIPA members for their dedication, saying that it was clear from the performances that a lot of work had gone into the preparation. The subjects of the performances, he continued, contained significant meanings and emotions. Shri Jambay Wangdi of the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh read out a congratulations letter from Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu. Shri JambayWangdi thanked TIPA on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh for providing training to the TIPA artists, emphasising the importance of keeping one’s own culture and traditions.
On the occasion, Sikyong also launched a few TIPA books, including one on Tibetan ruler Tri Ralpachan and three books on TIPA’s core music curriculum for trainees.
