Shimla, June 8th : The International Shimla Summer Festival-2026 kicked off at the iconic Ridge on Monday, with Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta lighting the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the first cultural evening of the five-day event.
Widely celebrated as a hallmark of Shimla district’s cultural identity on the global stage, the festival runs from June 8 to 12 and will feature performances by acclaimed artists from Himachal Pradesh and across India.
Deputy Commissioner and Organising Committee Chairman Anupam Kashyap welcomed the guests and felicitated Governor Gupta, Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha, and Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan at the opening ceremony.
Among the festival’s highlights, the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) took to the stage on June 11th, 2026, with a special cultural performance celebrating the depth and heritage of Tibetan performing arts. The presentation brought a distinctive cultural dimension to the festivities, weaving together diverse traditions on one of Himachal Pradesh’s most storied platforms.
